Day 55 - spending time with new friends
It was so cold last night! I didn't have an air matress or anything, just a layer of sleeping bag between me and the cold ground. We woke up pretty late but we were in no rush to wake up. We made bacon and eggs for breakfast. We have such great food prepared! After lounging around, we made lunch!
We spent the afternoon walking around the Lake Minnewanka area. What started out as a small walk turned into a small hike. We hiked up the trail along the rapids and then sunbathed on the rocks beside the river. It was a long hike, at least for me it was. I don't hike a lot but according to my Calgarian friends here, this was a short hike. Normal hikes take at least half a day. Well, excuse the city-girl from Toronto. The water all around was so clear and refreshing, I wanted to swim so badly but the water was also very cold. It's glacier water afterall.
When we got back to our campsite, one of the girls led us in a small devo. There were lots of sharing on the other girls' part but I mostly just sat and listened. I've always been the more mature one among my friends, being the one to share my 'wisdom' but here, I'm just a kid and I have so much to learn. One of the girls is 9 years older than me but I think we share similar views and beliefs about many things. Of course, her views and ideas are a lot more mature than mine. God has taught her so many things in her life so I still have a long way to go before I reach that kind of maturity. There's such a strong need for Daniel Fellowship to grow up and for me to grow up. That's something I will take back to Toronto with me.
Camping is so much fun with these girls, we just sing songs, play cards, lounge and just eat all day! I love it! Dinner was so delicious! we had skewered porkchops, veggies, baked potatoes, dinner rolls and coke! Mmm...we are so spoiled! I can't wait to see what we're gonna do, say and eat tomorrow!
