Day 65 - my real older sister

I talked to my older sister on the phone tonight. I haven't talked to her since I've been here in Calgary. The other day I wrote about why my sister didn't make a good older sister. That was not to say that she's not a good sister. So in case people are getting the wrong idea about her, here's props to my older sister.

She's a great sister because she's someone I can always talk to and do things with no matter how different we are. She's the one person who has known me the longest and best. She also knows just what buttons to push to get on my nerves. She makes me laugh because she can be a total klutz one minute and in the next minute, be the most together person I know. Our tastes and interests might be different but the one thing we have in common is a wild and adventurous heart. We both love to travel and do crazy things like sky diving! She's one of the rare people I know who actually love rollercoasters. I know I can always count on her to do extreme things with me. She's also very thoughtful and I is probably the only person who truly knows my likes and dislikes. You know the type of gifts you sometimes get where you wonder if that person even knew what you liked at all? Like that reindeer sweater for Christmas or paperweight for your birthday. One of the things I've always hated to get were clothes. Unless of course, I specifically asked for it. But my older sister is the only one I trust to buy me clothes without me asking. She knows what I like to wear and what looks good on me. I love my sister, she's my best friend!

So talking to her tonight was really nice. She's so busy these days, going to school and taking her MCAT review classes. She says she's really stressed but she doesn't sound stress. She's worried about doing well on the MCAT but I know that she's going to do well. I mean, she has to do well because she has to get into med school! One of us has to fulfill my father's dream for us and it's certainly not me! =P

My older sister is also the brains of the family. Extremely smart and a very conscientious and studious student. When we were kids, she always worried about doing well in school and of course, she always ended up being the top student and received a lots of awards. I've never worried about grades and I do okay...maybe if I worried like her, I would do as well as she! haha. One of the things I really admire about my older sister is her great intellectual powers! She understands things very quickly and has a very objective mind. She's not easily persuaded by opinions and always searches for the real truth. I, on the other hand, crumble under peer pressure and am easily swayed. Especially when it comes to Bible knowledge. She never accepts what she hears right away. She always questions the things she hears and the people who teaches them and digs deep to get the real truth. I like to think that I'm not spoon-fed the gospel but sometimes, I'm very quick to accept what I hear and that's not always good. My older sister is the one who snaps me back in place.

So there are lots of things that I look up to my older sister for. I keep writing older sister because obviously, I also have a younger sister. She's a lot younger and man, she's a whole other story....
