Day 63 - the death hike
Today I went hiking with Janet and Annabella at Taylor Lake. It is a 12km hike with a 578m elevation! It was so crazy and so intense! It was uphill all the way!! I was panting and sweating and aching the whole time. Those two were going so fast. We had to keep stopping for me to catch my breath. When I 'hike' in Ontario, the trails are flat and I walk slowly so I can enjoy my surroundings. Here in Alberta, hiking is an exercise! You go as fast as you can so you can burn off fat! or something like that. I couldn't believe the hike. I've never done anything so arduous before. I have no endurance and I'm not in good shape at all. I felt so bad cuz I knew I was holding everyone up. But I just know I'm going to be in so much pain these next couple of days. It took us almost 3 hours to get to the end and reach the lake. I must admit that it was really beautiful up there, considering all the sweat and pain I endured to get there, it was kinda worth it. We met an old man up at the top who lost his hat. Apparently, he was up there yesterday and lost it! Meaning he came all the way up today just to look for it!! That's crazy! that old man is crazy! he looked at least 70 years old and had a walking cane. And he did this hike TWICE! two days in a row!! I almost died going up once and it'll be a miracle if I go a second time.
These crazy Albertans.
